Strange volume behavior

Postby whomper » February 7th, 2018, 5:34 am

Lately I’ve seen a strange volume behavior that I first attributed to the remote I’ve been using, however the issue travels to other remotes, so perhaps its a software thing.

When increasing the volume using large increments (haven’t tested with small increments), releasing the button and then clicking the large increment decrease button, the volume increases as if the previous button was pressed.

This is true for the other direction as well.

It seems like the device “remembers” the last button and uses when getting a new remote command to execute, versus observing which command was received.

This does not happen consistently and I haven’t yet been able to determine logic behind it.

Strange volume behavior

What kind of remote control are you using? If it’s an NEC-based protocol, then I believe the problem is there, as the protocol seems “stateful”. Sony-based protocol should have no such issues because it is “stateless”.
