As expected, my Theta CDplayer is obsolete! I was using my y1.5 as DAC and PC as my source. I was expecting some improvement over the y1.5 but  what a difference! The sound is more open, wider and more detailed. I really didn't expect that much improvement. It is just fantastic. I had DAC from Benchmark some time ago, and as far as I remember the Benchmark DAC sound was pretty much the same as Theta CDplayer itself. The gamma3 is 2 levels above that! I am happy camper, at least for now. I just put my Dali Epicon speakers for sale, blaming the poor sound on them. But I think I will actually keep them! Every song I play sound different now. Wow. :o Amazing!

Could you inform, please, what Theta CD player (model name) are you using?

It is Theta Miles. Very good CDP 10-15 years ago, one of the best for the money you could buy. I still use it, but only as transport with coaxial output to gamma3. DAC stage is obsolete. It is based on Pioneer stable platter mechanism that was well known for its data reading reliability.

SRC4392 dies. Out of the blue, when playing music, the chip lost sample rate and that was it. It's dead. I have all voltages as should be, master clock running no issues, but SDAOUT, LRCK and BCK nothing there. What a :?:

Yeah, sounds like your SRC4392 died. If you don't have one already, it's a good time to buy an inexpensive hot air SMD rework station. See my post about this: gamma3-build-problem-t3218-30.html#p30531

Desoldering the SRC with a hot air gun was a breeze for me. In earlier desoldering SMD work I used ChipQuik, but this time it was easier and cleaner.
A good $50 investment :-)

Just a little update on some decoupling caps. Through hole 0.1uF TDK replaced with 0.1uF 1206 SMD.
