EI-30 Transformer Source

Postby imstimpy » January 31st, 2014, 6:06 am

I've checked all the common sources here in the US and the EL-30 (encapsulated) transformers don't seem to be stocked. The best source was a UK stocked part from Mouser, which takes the price from $12 to $32. Have I overlooked something?

I was trying to use the EL-30 for the form factor, but a small chassis mount toroidal may be my only option. If I were in the UK or EU I could get that EL-30 anywhere.

Thanks,
-Jon

What primary/secondary winding voltages and VA rating are you looking for?
Btw it's EI-30, not EL-30. Which might make a big difference when searching.

The σ25 project is primarily to power a γ1/γ2 project. That should translate into 115VAC ~3VA, 9V secondary. I will eventually replace it with a σ11 but in the meantime the pricepoint is hard to argue with.

Thanks for the clarification on the format.

I did look over Allied after I made the post, and they are the only US source for that format transformer. Unfortunately, Allied doesn't stock anything bigger than 2.0VA and Zettler doesn't make anything bigger than 2.4VA.

Looks like you should use a toroidal transformer instead...
