χ1: Silence is golden?

Postby amb » March 29th, 2012, 2:11 pm

There hasn't been much feedback since the χ1 was released, I guess it's a smooth, straightforward build for everyone?

Anyway, I still have some of the correct LiPo battery packs in stock (not listed in AMB audio shop). If you want some, PM me.

Were your ears ringing?
I was just wondering if you had any of those left....

Anyhow.... Mouser # 553-WSU090-1300 is another option for an X1 power supply but it has a 2.1mm plug.
$8.99 as opposed to $15.95 for a single piece = :) :) :)

I never did build a Mini3....maybe I'll go all the way and make one with the x1 while I'm at it :D

Had a series of thunderstorms roll through and knock out the power last night.
Plugged the iPod into a Mini3+Chi1 that had been sitting unused in my desk for about 6 months and it ran for a little under 7 hours.
Hacked together an adapter, plugged it into the power point in the car, plugged the other end into the amp and was ready for another listening session an hour and a half later.
Pretty cool. :)

So you used 12V to charge? I wonder if the charge controller chip gets too hot.

Nope, I was worried about the heat build up during the transition from precondition to constant voltage mode at 12 volts so went digging, found a 4.7 ohm 2 watt resistor in the left over PPA parts and wired it in between the two plugs...
