Any suggestions for this x1 upgrade botch?

Postby royewest » June 3rd, 2013, 8:51 pm

It's been a number of years since I built my mini3 and a year since I ordered the x1 upgrade parts but then didn't get time to build it. I've gotten going again but am all thumbs, relearning how not to burn myself with the soldering iron.

I'm afraid I've done a sloppy job of retrofitting my mini3 to work with the x1 board. Here's where I stand.

Without the X1 board, I think the mini3 is in one piece. The tests work out and the LED lights, voltages seem correct, etc., etc. I melted some pads when replacing the caps, etc., but as best as I can test against the docs, it's not ruined.

The X1 board is another issue. In short, when I mate the boards and plug things in, the charging light doesn't light and the blue power light pulses.

Here are my X1 measurements:

Both batteries measure 3.81V when not connected to board and when measured and connected to board at connection points.

AC adapter measures 9.27V

B- to UV and B- to OV are both 7.61

COM to B+ and B- are both 3.81

B- to LPW is 0.

FWIW, COM to LPW is 3.8 and B+ to LPW is 7.61.

This is a long shot -- I've clearly done something terribly wrong and likely should start over (glad I didn't "improve" the one I built for my buddy first!).

But just in case you guys have a suggestion for what to try...

Thanks,

__Roy

All these measurements are reasonable. Maybe you have a electrical contact problem with 3P header/receptacle? Maybe post some clear photos of your boards, top and bottom.

I shared an album with you on Google+. The photos were too large to post here -- too late to reduce -- will do more tomorrow. Thanks!

Sorry, I don't do google+. For the benefit of all readers here, please post links to the pics here, or inline with the [img]...[/img] bbcode tags.

I had D2 flipped. All better now. Nothing like a night away from the obvious to help you find it. Thanks for the support, Ti.
