Someone more experienced can correct me if I'm wrong but you might want to check your U1D. What are you using to power it again? 5v 300mA is the recommended power.

Anyway, from JP1D I am reading 5.07V or so, and from JP2D 0V

+ or - ?

im using a wallwart to power.

MisterX:
Those were positive readings.

I am a little suspicious about U1D (which does something about power but I don;t know what). I will post some pictures tomorrow when I get hold of a camera so you guys can have a good look at joint that may be dodgy (this is my first time handling surface mounts so plenty f scope for mistakes!).

Good night all.

Eek. Did you use liquid flux when soldering the SMDs? Those joints could all use some work.

The flux arrived after I soldered this up. Bad I know. I'll play with my new flux pen and see if we can't resurrect this beast!

Wow, it really is all in the liquid flux! I reflowed all the SMD chips really nicely and quickly. I applied power, but, alas, nothing. How depressing. However, I starting poking around U1D for no good reason and shorted two of the pins and the light came on! (Yeah, I know it's very bad practise to short things when the power is on but I was feeling a little pissed). Anyway, this gave me new hope, so I gave U1D lots of TLC and 8 shiny new joints.

And it worked!

Onto the Gamma 2 now (with the flux pen at the ready, this time!!!)

Good to hear you got it working. The flux pens really do make a world of difference when it comes to SMD soldering!

Indeed. It's your life-saver in SMD! :D

Glad to see everything working now, Olli.
