Blues but lively, with a swing that gets you moving even if you're nailed down. Cracking playing, excellent singing and a good mixture of re-worked traditional numbers and new ones in the same vintage vein.

Having this with me made even a trip into London for work something of a pleasure........... and that's saying something.

Nice, Love some massive attack. IRT your last, I guess what you'd call my 'foundations' are kind of all over the map. Bob Marley, Andrew Bird, Jeff Buckley, The Police, Everything But The Girl, and The Cure have all been in heavy rotation since I finished building my Mini3. Once upon a time, I was a pretty decent bass player, but I'm not particularly drawn to showy-bass-player music. My favorite Sting quote is 'It's not about how many notes you can play, it's about the note you DON'T play.'

Yeah, not to bad for a bunch of tracks that David Gilmour once said "weren't good enough for The Wall".

Ah, now I know where you are coming from. Clues are evident. To quote from Sting is also interesting. In that vein, how about my listen for today?

I admire Patrick's work, also doesn't hurt he was one of FZ's better bass players. But I particularly like this very ambient CD. And, it is completely about the space between the notes.

I love Pink Floyd, but I feel this is lacking the polish of earlier work. My all time favorite is the one work that has Pink Floyd has been quoted as thier 'least favorite', and that is Animals. Mmmm, I just love that work.
In a past life I had the great pleasure of listening to the master tape (yes, THE master tape) of Dark Side of the Moon. We were demo'ing modifications to the Apogee DA1000 converter for Doug Sax at The Mastering Lab. And what really was incredible was all the tender loving care that that recording got. I just wished that Animals had someone go over it with a fine toothed comb to clean up some noisy parts.

No, I like animals, too. I'm not as big on the pre-meddle albums, though.

I've been playing "The Very Best of the Moody Blues" which sounds great on my headphones. I'll have to buy the actual CD's sometime later. Since it's fun, I'll post a picture of the cover art:
