If anyone has another idea... You're welcome to share! ;)

Perhaps drill another hole symmetrically and put in a couple of dummy black (countersunk?) screws? Pics of errant hole might inspire more solutions?

The pic is on page two of this thread. Lower left corner just below the the decorative plate

I accidentally drilled the hole for my Gamma2 in the wrong spot, so that the coax input jack didn't line up with the face plate. I cheated and put a black-oxide buttonhead cap screw through the hole (the same kind I used to hold the face plate on). To a non-DIYer, or even a DIYer who isn't familiar with AMB projects, it doesn't look out of place at all. You could try it and see how it looks.

I've also used black silicone in a similar situation in the past, but it doesn't look so good. It does dry to a matte finish, but it just doesn't like right somehow, IMO.

Are you designing that future module?

I have found a black rubber plug... Hopefully it will look ok...

Thanks

Hi mikeg,

If the rubber plug I found does not look good, I'll try that black-oxide buttonhead cap screw. I have a few of them! It is a good idea

Thanks

if the hole is just below the front plate, why not just do another (replacement) plate and add some extra 'cover' metal around it (make it larger) so that the hole is now behind that?

Hey Mr. linux-works!

How are you?

I tought about making a new one through Front Panel Express but so far I've put in 1000$ of just case and Front Panel Express so I have to cool down a little... :D

Nonetheless, if all else fails, I will most probably make another one. After all that money invested in just the case, I don't want it to look ugly!

Glad to see you on this thread!

A replacement front panel from Hifi2000 is another possibility, as opposed to getting another subpanel fabricated by FPE.

I didn't think about that one!

I'll go see how much they charge for the panel and shipping.

That hole would be a good spot for an IR sensor.
Adding the rest of the bits for a remote controlled power switch wouldn't be that hard (there are like 170,000 Google results for a suitable circuit). ;)
1352.5 and counting.

maybe another idea: have a thin dark plastic layer to cover up that hole, but then mount your existing panel on top of THAT layer. it will be the hifi2k metal, then a thin layer of plexiglass (or my fave, ABS plastic, lol!) and then the proper metal 'badge' on top of that.

that way nothing has to be redone, but one more thin layer is added in the middle to cover-up.
