The slowness may have something to do with where you are and how many hops network packets have to travel to/from the www.amb.org server. Typically the response should be adequately fast (I peruse the forum from other locations, or via mobile, regularly, and observed no slowness). On the first day of each month the server performs automatic maintenance after midnight US/Pacific time, which causes increased CPU and disk load, and may slow down responsiveness, but that only lasts a few hours.
