thank you guys for help...
i populated another board and that one worked fine...and the amp is complete.
However i intend to troubleshoot this faulty board some time later..

here is the pic of current set up (though temporary)..

Hmm having the transformer primary just sticking into the socket like that seems pretty unsafe.

Any particular reason you used a R core transformer instead of a more common toroid?

The socket actually snaps in after the cables are inserted so it was pretty secure.
In any case,it was only for testing that one time. I have already connected a plug now.

The R-core transformer comes from the most reputed manufacturer here locally.They have stopped making toroidal transformer now, citing better performance from the R-core design.
I do think that the R-core trafos provide a blacker background but it could be just placebo.

With my limited listening in past couple of days, I can safely say that the B22 is a definite step up from my previous EHHA rev.A amplifier. :)
