Battery supply via USB for gamma2

Postby XXII » March 31st, 2011, 4:32 am

I want to use my gamma2 with an ipad but it draws too much current. Is it safe to wire 4 AA NiMh batteries to the 5V input on the USB cable?

Each NiMH cell is nominal 1.2V, 4x that is 4.8V which is close to 5V, but as the batteries discharge the voltage will drop and fall below the minimum limit. Why not use a 5V DC regulated wallwart?
